Here are some basics when it comes to DockDogs!

DockDogs 101

What is Big Air?

Big Air is a "long jump" for dogs.  The dog may be placed anywhere on the 40' dock, run and jumps into the water after a throw toy.  The distance is judged from the end of the dock to where the tail set of the dog breaks the waters surface.

What is Speed Retrieve?

Speed Retrieve is a "timed event".  Located at the end of the pool is a DockDogs Flappy toy suspended 2" above the water with a starting light above it.  The dog is placed at the 20' white mark on the dock, when the light turns green the handler releases the dog and the time stops when the dog has grabbed the toy.

 What is Extreme Vertical?

Extreme Vertical is a "high jump" for dogs.  The dog starts off at the 20' mark on the dock and jumps up to grab a Flappy extended out 8' from the end of the dock over the water.  The starting height for Extreme Vertical is 4'6" and goes up in 2" increments.

Extreme Vertical by muffintop.

What is Speed Swim?

Speed swim is the LATEST sport in DockDogs and will only be held at select events!  This discipline is similar to Speed Retrieve in that the objective is to retrieve the Flappy suspended at the end of the pool.  Except, instead of running down the 20' dock the dog takes a standing long jump in from the edge of the dock.  The fastest swimming dogs win.

How do I sign up to participate in DockDogs?

There are two ways to register for an event.  You can either pre-register online for the event or you can register onsite.  There is a discount if you pre-register online and it guarantees you a spot in any waves you would like to enter.  There is also a discount for Youth Handlers.
