Dog Boarding FAQ

Where will my pet stay overnight?

When pets are not out enjoying activities, they are comfortable in their own private rooms. Sleeping without a group of dogs, means more rest time for your pet and none of the stress of “cage free” facilities. All rooms span from floor to ceiling, have privacy panels, raised beds with comfy cushions and are climate controlled. Ask about outdoor patio rooms located at our 288 South location!

I have multiple dogs…can they stay together?

Dogs that live in the same household and are owned by the same pet parent are able to share a room. Be sure to tell the Reservation Specialist about their temperament and living situation so we can match them to the perfect accommodations!

Who will be taking care of my pets?

All of our staff members are highly trained, pet-loving professionals who can’t wait to serve you and your pets. Each staff member works in a dedicated department and receives specific training for their position. From Reservation Specialists helping to plan your pet’s vacation to the Activities Counselors playing with your pet and the Lodging Techs serving meals and providing clean accommodations, we all have a part in making you and your pet’s experience meet all your expectations.

Do I need to pack food?

We recommend that you bring your pet’s favorite food from home and request that you portion it out into individual bags per meal. However, if you are unable to bring food from home, we serve high-quality NutriSource dog & cat food that’s easy on even the most sensitive stomachs. Just be aware that there is a small $1 charge per meal if you opt for our in-house food.

If you decide to bring food from home, please be aware we cannot accept food containing bones. If your pet happens to have a raw diet or a diet consisting of more than one food item, for example adding canned food into kibble or items that need to be refrigerated, frozen, or warmed up, there will be a $1 feeding charge per meal. Likewise, if the food you bring from home is not separated into portions, there will be a $1 feeding charge per meal.

Do I need to pack bedding?

All rooms include soft, comfortable bedding on a raised bed, which we clean daily on-site. While you are able to bring your own blanket, it is not necessary and can only be used if it does not have foam or stuffing. No large beds as every item must be able to fit in our washing machine for sanitation.

How do you ensure my pet is safe and healthy?

Industry-leading safety and wellness systems keep all our guests healthy and protected. Pets are kept comfortable with year-round climate control and air filtration, while our facility and play yards are protected by 24/7 security and perimeter fencing. Additionally, our highly trained caregivers provide a comprehensive wellness check to our guests every day.

What vaccinations are required?

Your pet’s safety is always our first priority! Meadowlake works closely with local and national veterinarians to stay up to date on new information, trends and more. We require dogs to be up to date on their vaccinations for Rabies, DHLPP (Distemper), and Bordetella. While we do not require the CIV (canine flu) vaccine, we do highly recommend it. We always encourage all pet parents to discuss vaccinations with their preferred veterinarian to ensure your pet remains as safe, happy and healthy as possible.

How quickly do you book?

Meadowlake’s reputation and convenient locations mean that rooms tend to fill fast, especially for holidays and summer trips. We recommend calling as soon as you know what dates you need. You can secure a reservation with a card on file, but no payment is due at the time of reservation, with the exception of extended stays or Stay & Train programs.

Cat Boarding FAQ

Where will my cat sleep at night?

Cats rest easy in our specially designed Kitty Parks and Uptown Kitty Lofts. At both Meadowlake facilities, cats are housed separate from our canine guests for a peaceful, private experience. A dedicated air ventilation system keeps the air clean and fresh for our feline friends. Our cat suites are spacious, multi-level accommodations offering plenty of room to lounge, perch, and play. Large windows bring in lots of natural sunlight for cozy catnaps and views of the outdoors.

What vaccinations are required?

For the safety of all guests, daycare dogs must be current on the following vaccines; Rabies, DHLPP (distemper), and Bordetella. While we do not require the CIV (canine flu) vaccine, we do highly recommend it.

What should I expect when I arrive?

When you arrive, a Meadowlake team member will walk you through filling out a few forms, in particular some history about your pet. This is a great time to ask any questions you may have as well. Your pup will be taken to Daycare by one of our Daycare Counselors where they will await their evaluation to place them in the perfect play setting for them. Parents should not expect to be able to watch the evaluation as your pet will act differently with you around…not only may they act uninterested in other dogs, they could even become protective of the space in your presence. Our Counselors will take great care of your pet while you are away and contact you once the evaluation process is complete.

What will my dog’s daycare evaluation be like?

Deciphering your pup’s body language is an important part of their daycare evaluation. Your pup’s use of posture, facial expressions, and other cues will give us an understanding of what sort of play environment they enjoy. As they are introduced to different pets, and the daycare counselors, we assess if they are relaxed, having fun, and showing appropriate play behavior. For dogs more socially inclined, they are gradually introduced to the pack and will spend the rest of the day playing and meeting new friends. For pups who enjoy more one on one play time they are invited to do personal daycare. Once your pup has completed their evaluation, we will contact you and let you know how they did. After that, they are invited to join us the rest of the day until you are ready to pick them up.

How do you decide which play program will best fit my dog?

Matching a dog to the most appropriate program involves many factors that our well trained staff analyze. While historically dogs are social, after years of domestication and depending on the dog’s past experiences, not all dogs actually like a social environment. So the first thing we want to ensure is that your pet has fun while at Meadowlake! In addition, we must consider factors like each pet’s size, activity level, play style, and age while placing them in the proper program or social pack.

How will I know how my dog enjoyed daycare?

When you come to pick up, we’ll let you know all about your dog’s fun day out. We’ll tell you how they most enjoyed playing, who they made friends with, the activities they preferred, and what positive developments we notice as they continue to visit us.

What is the next step if I feel like my dog needs more stimulation and enrichment?

Discovery Daycare is a great option for pups who need more engagement and unique daily experiences. With activities planned for every day of the month, pups are sure to be entertained and challenged. Call today to learn more about Discovery Daycare or explore our Events page.

What if my dog is lodging and I would like them to do daycare during their stay?

Both of our locations allow for a seamless transition from lodging to daycare. Pups that have not completed their daycare evaluation can do so once they have been checked-in, though we highly suggest getting their evaluation done prior to their stay. After completing their evaluation a daycare counselor will contact you and let you know what play program was the best fit for your pet. If they enjoyed social daycare then each day they will join the pack to play before returning to their room for dinner and tuck-ins. Both facilities have countless play packages available for parents who prefer not to do daycare during a pup’s stay.
